PRESS RELEASE: De Gregorio to Gottheimer: Sell Your Russian Assets & Stop the Day Trading

Renews Calls for All CD5 Candidates to Sign Stock Ban Transparency Pledge

FAIR LAWN – Today, Nick De Gregorio, a Marine Veteran who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and Republican Candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s Fifth Congressional District, called on incumbent Democrat Josh Gottheimer to sell stock he is reported to own in Russian companies:
“At a time when our democratic allies in Ukraine are being hunted and slaughtered by the Russian army, Josh is personally invested in the oligarchic lifeline that allows Vladimir Putin to engage in this unchecked and unprovoked aggression against a free people. He needs to sell these assets immediately,” said De Gregorio.
He continued, “This is yet another example of why Members of Congress owning stocks is a problem. Conflicts of interest arise constantly, and the public only finds out after the deed is done. These lax restrictions have allowed Josh Gottheimer to become one of the most prolific day traders in Congress. The real question is, why are my Republican colleagues, Frank Pallotta and Fred Schneiderman, on the side of Josh Gottheimer and against my Stock Ban Transparency Pledge that would restore the public’s trust in our elected representatives?”
